What Is This? White substance on hen's comb.

My namesake hen, Judy Dean, has white stuff on her comb. I thought it would be some soft gooey substance that would rub off, but it is not. It's hard and doesn't come off. Have you ever seen this? What can it be? My other hens are fine and don't have this white stuff. Any ideas? I hope the photo is clear enough.

It could be a fungal infection called favus, but I would,first try to clean it off with QTips and warm soapy Dawn water. Dry it off and apply some miconazole cream daily if it doesn’t come off.

Dry Fowl Pox can present as white, grey, or black lesions; so that is a possibility.

If the q tip jobbie doesn’t work I would try a q tip with a spot of Gentian Violet I don’t know if you can get it where you are but it is handy for minor animal skin issues.
