What is this?

Yesterday my hen was acting off and had what looked like egg membrane and white hanging from her back end. I soaked her in Epsom salt a while, and 12 hours later soaked her again and was able to gently pull this from her chloacha. Eating and drinking are only slightly improved. Has moments she hangs with the flock but sometimes stands still and isolates. What is it? Will she likely continue to recover?

It does look like an egg membrane. Can you cut the part in half that is pink, and post a picture? I would probably give a human calcium citrate with d3 tablet or tums orally. It could be repeated for a few days up to 7, in case she is having problems laying eggs.

Thank you. I just gave her a crushed time in water.
Give her the Calcium directly. If you are using TUMS, pop it into the beak and let her swallow. If you wish, cut in half and put half into the beak at time.

If you have Calcium Citrate+D3, same thing, give directly.

You want her to get the Calcium into her system, while putting it in the water, she will get a little when she drinks, but likely not enough to make a huge difference.

Since she's not eating or drinking much and I stole her from the roost at night, I crushed it, dissolved it in 5ml water and slowly gave through a syringe. I did watch her for a bit to make sure she didn't aspirate. I think she enjoyed the snuggles.
