Got it, thanks for clearing that up for meAll PDZ would be pretty pricey (depending on how much space you're covering) and isn't really necessary. We get 40 pound bags at Southern States for about $15 a bag. Our Tractor Supply has PDZ in much smaller packages for a heftier price per pound. PDZ was originally used in horse stalls to absorb urine, so you're more likely to find it where horse "stuff" is sold.

I use a cup of PDZ a week in my run and coop, for what it is worth.
And it does seem to help.
I heard that river sand, like the type carried at sand and gravel supply stores, is the best. It's a great question though. Will definitely follow this thread!
