Hello All,
We (my family) are new to the site. I currently live in CT and I have a large coop built that can hold atleast 10 large chickens. I am interested in getting some Sex Link or Rir's (red ones) for my coop. I was curious if anybody can point us in the right direction regarding which hatchery to choose? Which has the best chickens? I am looking to buy them within the next few weeks.

Thank you!

cackle hatchery in missouri is a good hatchery. i live in maine and i bought chicks from them last year. they shipped on a wednesday and i got them on a friday . i got cinnamon queens and golden laced wyandottes. the cinnamon queens are a sex link and they are good egg layers.

Hi If you are interested in sex links and RIR your best bet and best deal would be to go to your local Tractor supply store. You will save on shipping and if you get the older chicks they are as little as $1.09 each because they are trying to sell them before they get too old. I bought some amber sex links at the tractor supply store in Enfield last year and they great layers of jumbo eggs. If you want to go with a hatchery mypetchicken.com is the only hatchery I know that allows you to order as few as three chicks, all the others require you to get a minimum of 25. They are headquartered in CT but I think the actual hatchery is in the midwest. Welp hatchery has a good selection and allows you to get as few as one of each kind but you pay a service fee and still have to order a minimum of 25. It is a good choice if you want an interesting mix of many breeds as I did. Hope this helps, Randy

Check out Meyer Hatchery in Polk, Ohio. www.meyerhatchery.com You will need to order by phone, as they do not have online ordering of baby chicks at this time. They have a small order program, so you can order as few as 3 chicks! I will be heading there to pick up another bunch of chicks tomorrow!
