I have standards: easter eggers, brahmas, langshan, a cuckoo marans, orpingtons, a welsummer, naked necks, one orloff, one sussex, a lot of backyard mixes
Bantams: cochins, old english, and a bunch of backyard mixes
40 seems reasonable to me. 🤣

I'm in Central Texas as well and I've had/have mixed breeds, Easter Eggers, Dominiques, Leghorns, ISA Browns, Barred Rocks, a Buff Orpington, and a Welsummer (though she suddenly died at not even 2, it was during summer, but not sure if it was from heat. :(). They all have done pretty well in the heat and I haven't had any get overheated or anything.

Let me guess. You're not within city limits! :p

In addition to heat tolerance, I also need to check on how noisy they are. The next-door neighbors have chickens and they have one REALLY loud hen.
