Whats the best kind of duck food?

I feed the floating Mazuri waterfowl pellets. My ducks love it! I think it depends, too, on what your ducks are for. I was told that the Mazuri is better for pet ducks that you want to live a long time -- rather than for production. Whether or not that's true or just marketing tactics, I'm not sure. I can tell you that my ducks don't waste it. They gobble up every bite. When the feed store was temporarily out, I had to buy regular feed and they were not happy with it!

I use this. Apparently it is used by zoos. Yes, pricy ($60 for 50lbs - incl shipping) but I only have two ducks so it's worth it and doesn't break the bank. Just a note, if they are in the growing stage, add cat kibble for extra protein as the feed is only 14% protein, I believe.

This is what I'm doing. Mazuri is too spendy to feed my ducks forever, but I have bought a bag to start them out. After this is done, they should be about 9 weeks old, and I am switching them to flock raiser.

The low protein level in the Mazuri doesn't concern me because my ducks get crickets, mealworms, and feeder guppies very often. Spoiled, much?

Im with toadbriar. If you can afford it or only have a few ducks its great. I fed mine all mazuri for several years. Its great food. But with so many ducks (always 80 or more) they all get fed chicken layer pellets right before they get their flight feathers till they push up the daisies.

$60!! Holy cow! Have you ever asked your local feed store to order it for you? That what I do. I think I pay about $35 + tax for the 50 lb bag of maintenance.

They make a waterfowl starter, too.

I don't have any ducks but my Great Uncle runs a Waterfowl Foundation, and I helped him mix some feed. I thought this was such a great idea that I use it for my peacocks and they love it. His ducks, geese, and swans would come running when they heard him shake the food bowl. Here is what works best for him and I.
*Flock Raiser
*Cracked Corn
*Wild Bird seed
All of these are 50lbs bags then he pours each bag into on big barrel and stirs it with a shovel.
Mix them all toghther and i'm pretty sure any bird would come running to it
