Currently it’s -1C (31F) and overcast, humidity is at 88% so it very damp, everyone one of my aching bones those naughty horses have broke in my life are aching.

But! I will take it if it isn’t -25C freezing cold and snow.

Rain and very mild temps on tap for the weekend (11C tomorrow yay! Might go riding!)

And…. I gave in to my broody silkie after 6 weeks being broody and managed to find a couple of chicks for her.

I never associate freezing temps with you area, is this normal?

Yes. We can get into the teens for 4-5 nights a year but that is way below the avg over the decades. Typical winter is highs in the 50's with lows in the mid 30's.

Right now it is 58° still and just as soon as it gets dark it is supposed to warm to the mid 60's and then into the 70's after daylight. My kind of winter. During my youth in central FL I saw bitter extremes of teens and upper 90's. Here we at least get some fall and spring. I've seen winters in my youth when we never got a frost.
