Where can I find Construction Grade Sand for my chicks?

If you are getting only 1-3 bags then Home Depot or Lowes but if you are getting more than that then I would see about the landscape supply rock yards.

Do you mean to supply as grit or for the bottom of brooder?

If the former then you can get a handful from your driveway and wash it. If the latter then any hardware store or Home Depot/ Lowes will have a bag.

If you ever plan on doing your run with sand then borrow a truck and make several trips to the pit. 8x8 run 3 inches deep is 0.6 yards. A lot of sand.

Oh okay thanks! I checked home depot yesterday and saw some sand but I got discouraged because on the bag it said may contain crystalline syllicates which can be harmful if inhaled and could lead to lung cancer. Could this harm my new babies? Because this made me worried.

Go to your local cement and gravel yard. They will sell you any kind of construction sand from fine dry wall sand to course sand use in cement. Any of this is great to use with chickens. I've been using it for years with no problems. They will sell you how ever much you want. I buy it by the half yard for around $15 and haul it home in my small pickup.

@DeesChkns All sand contains silica crystalline https://www.osha.gov/OshDoc/data_General_Facts/crystalline-factsheet.pdf and yes if inhaled it can cause problems as can any airborne dust particles big enough to lodge in the respiratory system....think big city and heavy pollution like LA it is the same health hazards. Though they don't have a msds sheet taped to the landscape bin or rock yard bin it is the same stuff. Silica is most commonly refering to the crushed quartz found in all sand products.
