1. Make sure you ONLY get food grade. Pool and/or horticultural are NOT safe for chickens, no matter what you're told by a store employee.

2. You can get DE online. there are lots of sellers. I bought mine for around $27, shipped (10 lbs).

One addition: some sellers on ebay will say that they're selling DE that's really food grade, just not labeled as such because it's difficult to get the labeling approved. I wouldn't trust them. Only get DE that's labeled "food grade".
