I'm currently researching sources for heritage turkey eggs to incubate in the spring. I'm in central/northern Indiana and I'd greatly prefer finding a local-ish source for fertilized eggs. I'm hoping to incubate in the early spring. I've found several sources for fertilized turkey eggs via Google, but they are too far to drive and/or only offer broad breasted turkey breeds.
I don't need a lot of turkeys to start--probably will only have 6-8 at the very most and will have to cull all but one tom, as applicable. I want to have about half for meat birds and the rest for eggs/pets. I would really love to hatch our own turkeys this first time for the kids to see.
Does anyone know of a source for heritage turkey eggs that won't break the bank? I'm hoping to find 8-12 eggs.
