Which ducklings have the multi-colored feet?

Ducks come with party shoes? That is so cool, I had no idea!

I'm asking partly because Feanor has someone with party shoes in what I think is a hatchery choice order, and Ancona is the only breed I could think of. There is a photo on that thread. I'd post it here but I want permission first.

I think it depends on the parent stock. I had mixed color runners that had multi feet. Muscovy too. I think the patterned breeds are more apt to have colored feet. I think these days with so many birds not bred to standard it could be any. I would be surprised to see a pekin with colored feet, unless it was mixed.

Okay, thanks, jdywntr. There was slight mottling on my chocolate runners' feet and legs. It was one way I could tell them apart before I gave them colored Velcro anklets. One had solid dark brown legs and feet, one had brown legs and toes and orange webbing, and so forth. Now everyone's feet are pretty much dark brown.

Amiga, I noticed that with my mixed runners. I had pure f&w, blue, black and chocolate that bred together and it seemed like the multi colored babies had multi feet. I had some blue/white babies that had multi feet but I think they got more solid as they grew. Same with the muscovy. I'm waiting to see what happens with my ~10wk old muscovy ducklings. They are out of black barred dad and chocolate barred mom. Most have orange legs/feet but many are a bit mottled. Dad has dark legs. I don't know that its an actual science, maybe with good quality pure breds.

I'm looking out the window at six or seven inches of snow, sipping coffee, dragging my feet a little before going out to liberate the netting from a blanket of snow so the runners and buffs can get out into the run.

Glad they have a spacious night pen.

Sounds like its a chilly one up there. I spent all day yesterday cleaning out all the pools and the pond even. I put about 3inches deep of white sand in all the pens so I can have some" florida snow" lol! Actually I do it once a year so the pens looks good and everyone stays healthy. A few birds have started to lay here ( silver woodies, manderins, cuban treeducks) and I have some mallards setting on mix of their own and some mystery eggs . I get the surprise and learn what when they hatch out.
