Which is. Better pigeons or doves ?

Ring necks n collored doves etc terrible for noise mess smell dust etc, diamonds I'm not sure of.. rollers n flights (all domestic breeds of "pigeon" are same species of rock dove, pigeon means size over old eight ounce bird, bred for food or racing or message etc sending) did fine inside with everything n nosmell dust etc as long as scrape bottom of cage daily. smell n mess happens when less than great health, n when cleaning left till week to month or more poo left to dry out good n flapping sends into air-birds feed water lungs n can cause you both probs. Rollers homers and fancies etc, I've had to suddenly move inside, and had rollers for years inside (no illnesses), as neighbor cops started trying to use as target practice, as found also cause of coming home to other animals shot and shot at by there drunken selves.. luckily the pigeons could be kept n flown from window door "coops" as local cops couldn't shoot straight. I would suggest using an air purifier, as was awsomely especially beneficial when temp had collored ringnecks laugher doves, and all other birds in.

Thanks really helpfull, and why would a cop do that arnt they supposed to keep peoples property/ belongings safe?

I would be careful about having pigeons inside- I wouldn't do more than two or so, and even then only with an air purifier. The dust can really mess with your lungs over time, and the damage can be permanent. My mom ended up having to give up all her birds, because she developed that issue (often called 'Pigeon Keeper's Lung') after being in an enclosed loft with them daily for years. It doesn't develop in everyone, but it is a risk. If it starts to be an issue for you or someone else in your house, you may have to give up all birds to prevent damaging lungs further, at least according to the various doctors and specialists we talked to about the issues my mom experienced.

Outside is probably best, if you can manage it. If you are going to have one or two in the house, I agree with the poster above that rollers make charming little pets.

I have both pigeons and doves if they are being kept in a loft I find they are quite easy to keep clean, I only have 14 pigeons and 6 indian fantail doves the doves are large birds but they do make a mess compaired with my pigeons and they are a lot louder, so it would depend on what kind of doves. My pigeons are a variety of breeds mostly rescued ones no one else wanted and for me the pigeons have much more personality and are very sweet
