I went out to my coop this AM and found my rooster dead. Head removed from neck, he was by some nest boxes and I though he caught his neck in falling between. This evening I heard some noise but didn't think anything, then went to my coop and a hen was missing. I saw it under where the hens roost. Neck chewed. Then I knew there was a predator. From behind the nest boxes this is what I saw peeking at me. He was so little!!!

He was hiding behind the nest boxes. I put my hens in cardboard boxes (4) and put them in my mudroom in my house. I opened the pop doors in the chicken coop and removed the nest boxes them mink was hiding behind, it ran about the coop and escaped through an open pop door I had opened hoping he would run away, I also a trap out if he comes back. In the AM I am getting mesh for the 1'' gaps I may have. I will move all nest boxes and look in all corners before hens come back, and put up the mesh. I think it got in when I had doors open for day play areas.

Cute little devil. Need a new scarf? :D ;) Yes, I am joking. ( Mostly) But with how small of a gap that little guy can shimmy through, he's going to be a pain in the butt. If you don't have a predator apron, I would put one down. Apparently, they can dig. I wish you luck with your trapping!
