Hi Pea people!

A gorgeous white peahen showed up out of nowhere on our property yesterday and was socializing with our chickens and eating some of their food and treats! I have no clue where she came from. She walked off into the woods after a while and hasn’t returned today. Our nearest neighbors are acres away and I have no clue who she belongs to.

A couple of questions:

If she were to come back, is it ok for her to eat chicken food and treats?

What are the odds she’ll return?

Should I be concerned about any diseases transferring to my chickens?

Please excuse the mess in the photos - we have a few projects going on.

Thanks!

We have three from our neighbor about 1/2 mile away that come over here. They can have the chicken feed. If we were raising them, they'd be on game feed or all flock.

The owners of these are two doctors, so we don't worry too much about diseases but that should be a consideration more from the peacock's standpoint getting something from the chickens that chickens are immune to, but the peacock isn't.
