Hey there! Currently we only have two hens, one RIR from McMurray that we raised ourselves and is almostttt 15 weeks I believe (shipped out week of June 3rd and I believe we got them that Thursday), and one that we were told was a 1.5 year old maran (I didn’t ask which kind and we’re newbies to this breed/chickens overall). The latter we picked up from someone in town because unfortunately the rest of our flock got mauled (coop problems have been fixed) 
and the lone RIR survivor needed a buddy or two (we also found a local 4+ month old rooster to take on while we regrow our flock). So… when my husband picked up the maran from her previous owners he was told a dog kinda went after her once and then their rooster hated her from then on out. He was also told she had been laying but we don’t know if that meant she stopped or what. We got her September 4th and since then hadn’t had any eggs. Until today. We thought maybe the maran was molting since we did notice some black feathers around the coop and such but not an excessive amount so I’m not sure. Regardless… my husband found this egg today! If you had to guess… who would you say laid this thing? Could the maran have stopped laying temporarily because of stress from downsizing to such a small flock in a new place but now she’s settled in? I don’t know what to think! Egg isn’t too large.
