Who's been Skiing at Winter Park, Colorado?

I've only been to Colorado once in 1992 to stay w/ my mom who had to go to the hospital while she was there on vacation, so I didn't really get to see much.

I wasn't to excited about the trip at first, b/c I'm just sooo sick of cold Yo-Yo weather. I've really been looking forward to spring. To getting out in the garden.

It will be good. I've been positive, b/c I know DH has been super stressed w/ work and wants to do this. I think it will be fun. It will be a neat family trip.

Have a fun trip and enjoy the mountains for me!!

I can relax now that I know I have responsible house sitters to take care of all my critters. I was a little nervous, b/c I've got eggs in the bator, but they aren't due until the following weekend. My BIL and SIL is going to house & critter sit and they both grew up w/ farm animals, so my babies are in good hands.

Chickngurl I've never been skiing either and I sure hope I don't get the altitude sickness. I heard that is the pits. I will definitely be taking lessons. Ok, what's a "wedge"? The skiing makes me nervous to.

Wedging is angling the points of your toes in to make the skiis form a sort of triangle rather than be parallel. It helps you not go so fast, but then again you have to also not angle them too much in or you'll end up hurting yourself.

For the altitude sickness, I found that taking a couple of ibuprophen (or your choice of pain reliever/blood thinner) helps. Winter Park is just so high, Denver is the mile high city and the park is located further up the mountains!

Thanks you guys. DD & I went and got junk food for the plane ride.

Chickngurl I guess I need to learn the skiing lingo. I'm sure I'll learn it on the baby bunny slop lessons. LOL!!!!

Coloradochick THANK YOU SO MUCH for the weather info link!!!!!!!!

It has been so helpful. It was so cool to pop on there to see what the forecast will be for the weekend. Looks like good skiing weather for us. Lucky Us!!!!!!

I finally looked at a map of Winter Park. That mountain is HUGE!!!!! Geesh, I doubt I'll be skiing from the top.

Everybody has been telling my dh to make sure we take ibuprofen with us. I told him it's for the altitude sikness, right???? he said, no....it's for our muscels. LOL!!!!!!

We have our snow gear, sunscreen, chapstick, & ibuprofen...so we are good to go. We'll of cousrse get the bottled water once we are there.

We leave this afternoon. I'll post some pics when we get back.

Thanks everyone bunches!!!!!!!

Kim
