I have heard several different things as to why my chickens are occasionally holding there beaks open. It almost puts me in the mind frame of a dog panting when they get hot but my chickens are not panting. They are not acting strange or making any abnormal sounds. Nothing out of the ordinary at all except this. One of the things that I have heard is that it is a possible sign that they could have worms and was told that I could buy a solution for their water that would be safe for all of them but what take care of any worms, if the did have them. At the Tractor Supply store she said that she did not know of anything such as this but mentioned vitamins that could be added to their water but she was not sure if that helped with worms or not. Could someone help me out please?

Are you positive they are not panting?
I wouldn't jump right to the conclusion of 'worms' being the issue.
Give us more details, is the mouths open constant?
Are all of them(how many) doing it?
What all and how exactly are you feeding?

Oh, and.... Welcome to BYC! @janassee2010
Where in this world are you located?
Climate, and time of year, is almost always a factor.
Please add your general geographical location to your profile.
It's easy to do, and then it's always there!
