Hey BYC lovers, looking for some advice! I'm wondering why 3 of my pullets (2 are 9 MONTHS OLD and NOT Laying yet, one is laying), are puffing up their chests. I thought it was just in the morning, but now I noticed a couple doing it this afternoon. It's not freezing, in fact today was pretty warm. Their crops seem normal in the am. Flat and not full... When they puff up, they just stand there with both feet on the ground. I also noticed that one, Bertha, the lavender orphington, has been opening her beak, like a yawn a few times. I've also noticed they haven't been drinking much at all. One of the older hens is sort of a bitch and pecks some of them sometimes when they drink, so I just tonight put another waterer in the run. I hope that helps that problem...

Their poop seems normal, I'll see if I collect some poo samples tomorrow.

Do they have coccidiosis? Thoughts? Why they are not laying yet could be a whole other post!!

I really appreciate it!

hey my chickens name is bertha too! i would say just because they are cold and warming up.
