The rest of the batch is doing well, but this one didn’t make it. I decided to do a necropsy in hopes of determining what went wrong.
There’s a strange white coagulation I haven’t seen in my other egg necropsies
His head was tucked inward rather than pointed out, away from the air cell or egg wall
The flat surface is where the air cell was. His head was tucked behind the foot
His head is completely different from the other egg necropsies. It looks flat with large, bulging eyes, and a dip in the middle of his skull between the eyes
And then one of my wet specimens for comparison:
So what went wrong with this bird while the rest of his batch are doing just fine?
