why does my baby chicken smell funny?

One of my hens gets a strange smell (not bad like rotting or poop) when she has new feathers coming in.

You can post a new thread in the forum that best fits your question. In your case I would either post it in the 'Raising Baby Chicks' section or the 'Emergencies/ Diseases/ Injuries and Cures' section.

First find the forum u think suits your qeustion like if u wanted to know can I raise 2 roosters togeather? You could start a thread in Managing your flock

I too just purchased a pullet wyandotte over the weekend and she is supper musky smelling from her feathers. I worry too she may be sick, she looks healthy otherwise. I bathed her and while she was drying had a strong oder so I know it was coming from her feathers. We have show chickens and I pray it is not an illness of some kind. She is in a kennel by herself but she is still near my other chickens. Her eyes are nice and clear and great appetite and drinking well. If anyone has any input I would like feedback as well

Did you ever find out the cause? I have a baby chick that has a weird smell too! She's only a couple weeks old. She is the only one of 7 that has this smell. She smells like milk???
