why have my chickens lost their feathers?

Hello, first of all, thank you to all who have welcomed me! My chickens have lost a lot of their feathers recently, they have always looked a little beat up since we got em but now theyve lost a lot of feathers and im not sure whats causing it, we use diatomaceous earth so it cant be mites, we've been making sure they have enough water, nothing is attacking them there is no blood. We have just one beautiful chicken she has all her feathers the only thing is her comb is very pale and some of the others have the same look. How can i find out whats causing this?

Chickens usually molt before winter. maybe you could gently look through their feathers and see if you can see pin feathers that are growing in. Could you post some pictures?
