Why is this site so broken if we have sponsors?

I gotta think the owners know HOW to fix this and just are not, for some reasons.

There is no reason to believe they know how to fix a problem that only you seem to have. They have to be able to experience it or at least get some diagnostics in order to address it, if it is at their end.

So far we have heard from several users who are using Safari without your issues, and none who are seeing them. This definitely implies the problem is your end, but if you are not seeing slowdowns on other sites I don’t know what the explanation could be.

I have a new Mac, a newish iPad, and a 4-year-old iPhone without any issues. However, I use alternative browsers (DuckDuckGo and Firefox) so I cannot compare notes on Safari.

For me the site hardly loads, the interface is busted and gets stuck, every time I try to click to a forum or messages it takes 30-90 seconds before that page is completely loaded, the ads won’t close for similar time lengths. It is the best resource that’s why I want it to be more functional. Maybe it’s fine on chrome on a desktop but the majority of folks use mobile now. And iPhone is the most popular device by far so it should be optimized for iOS and Safari.

I’m sorry to hear you’re having issues like that. You could try a PFM and see if that helps. Getting rid of all the adds could speed up loading things. Are you using WiFi? It could also be your internet speed. Or your cell phone. Do you have an older phone that you’ve used a while? Another thing to consider is restarting your router and modem if you are using WiFi, they both need rebooted periodically to refresh and run well anyways.

I'd suggest browsing BYC from a different device, browser, etc., to see if the issues might be with you specifically.

I suggest going on google and doing an internet speed check everything your experiencing seems due to slow internet.

I'm on an old Moto Stylus 4G, but I'm using Duck Duck Go and I don't have any issues. I didn't know there was an app. I just use the browser on my phone.

I agree with what someone else suggested... Clear your history & cache, then restart... Both your device and your router.

I have a samsung galaxy s21. 3 or 4 year old phone. I use firefox (it's a million percent better than google wrt privacy and has great extensions for ad blocking, accessibility, etc). Safari is notoriously not a great browser to begin with. But I doubt it's a safari/ios issue the way you're pushing it to be, because others in this thread are saying they have no issues with it.

Sorry if you already answered this, but do you have a computer that you can login from? If yes, how is the connection? Do you have the same issues?

Try clearing all of your history and all of your cookies, if you haven't.

I'm thinking your internet just can't handle the high traffic this site gets.

This isn't even true, btw. Most people can't afford a smartphone. I'm lucky my dad came into a little bit of money and was able to get both of us phones. Otherwise, neither of us would have one.

Actually... I wouldn't be shocked if it were an ios issue (planned obsolescence) causing your internet to not work properly on your phone. Apple sucks

Either way, it isn't BYC. It's your internet connection, or maybe (not likely) your device.

I only use safari on my iPhone and never have issues. It’s definitely something on your end. To come in here and say the owners know how to fix it and just won’t is absurd.

agreed. still browsing on an Iphone 7, or when more convenient, a public school issued Chromebook. it's certainly not a BYC issue if the site runs on this glorified Google machine!
