Why no yolk?

I couldn't find anything on this even though I've a feeling it's not uncommon. I'd just sure appreciate input on whether it's something to be concerned about.

Yesterday I cracked this recently laid egg into my measuring cup of water (which is why all the extra liquid) and found this weird white tough (and empty) yolk.

I've never had this before with my small flock of mostly 2yo ladies.

Can anyone tell me what happened here? Eggs are mysterious sometimes!

Wait, maybe I missed something: was the whole thing (including membrane) inside another egg?

You might still find something in the article I mentioned, because it talks about many kinds of odd eggs, but maybe it isn't quite what I first thought it was.

Was this solid or gelatinous or ???
How big is it?

Normal to slightly smaller than a normal yolk.
Tough on the outside (somewhat difficult to cut in comparison to a normal yolk) - a little bit like a cooked egg white, so more solid than gelatinous.
Empty on the inside.

Thank you, but i did read that article and it talks about "fairy" or "fart" eggs being yolkless.

This one was a normal-sized and looking egg *with* the pictured weird yolk that has me puzzled and mildly concerned...

I just realized I TITLED this post "Why no yolk?"!!!

I should have called it "Why is this yolk so WEIRD?"

Sorry for that confusion...
