Would anyone know if chick feed makes chickens gain weight? I give the flock (it was more for Georgia) a chick feeder of chick crumbles because Georgia seemed like she was having trouble eating pellets. I wanted to keep the same brand, but they didn't have All Flock Crumbles, so I got chick feed.

Higher protein (like in starter) = weight gain, oftentimes.

Ah, that may be my culprit then. I'll have to bite the bullet then and get all flock or layer crumbles. The boys don't go after the crumbles often, and my other girls are still laying.

Oh my fat little borb XD. But now I know what I can use for the winter!

Not really a good thing. Excess fat can cause liver disease in chickens. My vet wants me to cut back her calories.
The only thing I could cut out/replace is the chick feed I was giving her (she has a hard time with pellets). I placed an order for layer feed since I can't get my hands on all flock crumbles. I know the boys don't frequent the chick feeder, but my other girls do.
