Will Cayenne pepper in my yard hurt my laying hens?

Iput it in with their warm oatmeal with some garlic for a natural wormer.

I would like to use some to keep the dog from digging underneath the fence, but if the girls get near it, sniff it, scratch it or otherwise consume it, will this bother them or cause any adverse reactions/problems? Anyone know?

I put in my chickens water to jump start them laying again..

You'd have to research it. But, the red may actually act to help darken their yolks too. It serves no real purpose, but gives your eggs a more "farm fresh" appearance. I cant remember for sure if cayenne is one of the things that do, but it sounds familiar.

? Going to mix cayenne pepper in a sprayer to deter squirrels in coop. Will the residue hurt the bottom of hens feet.
Wouldn't want that to happen.

Other than having to reapply it every time it rains cayenne pepper is an excellent deterrent. Our cats keep squirrels chased off here. Never had a problem.

Peppers are totally safe to use around chickens, don't worry about them a bit
