Will this coyote come back

9 days ago a coyote dug under our run and got one of our chickens some time after 6am. 8 days later it returned at 7:50am, stayed no longer than 10 minutes, barely tried to dig in around spots then left. I believe the chickens hid in the coop. As it passed by my neighbors house it got in a "verbal altercation" with their 2 pits and husky and was then run off by my neighbor.

My question is, what are the odds it returns?

It got the largest of our flock (a larger than average turken), leaving behind 4 silkies. It is hopping our fence to get in. Since the first attack we put in anti-dig fencing, but it's still a work in progress and though 2/3 spots it dug the fencing was, it barely dug deep enough to really hit anything. The risk is increasing and the reward is not as great

If you can manage electric wire fencing, that'd be a great way to keep it out. We have alot of coyotes in my area but they stay away from my property because of my jumbo sized barking dogs.
We've been looking at that as well. We haven't had any come on our property for years but they're clearing land and building a neighborhood so I'm sure it's displacing a lot of animals.

They don't try to dig under the electric fence?

It will return. We have one who seems to pass through every 2 wks or so. Doesn't bother anything just passes through 2-3 AM.
I've been trying to haze it by waking uo around 7 and watching the coop from inside or the camera and haven't seen anything, except the one time I slept in.

Do they usually follow a routine like that, coming by the same times of day?

My experience is that if you do 2 wires, one down low enough that it's not touching the ground but it's close enough to paws and ears that even if they don't touch it they'll hear the current, they'll run away. Of course if they do touch it, it only takes one time. Growing up in Alaska we always had hot wire and it kept everything out.

I'm not sure. There is a pack of them but they have been quiet the past few months. I don't get the loners, why aren't they with a pack, maybe looking for new territory and possible start of a new clan.

Yes. Until they don't.

They will have routines, some will have a tighter routine than others. It depends on individuals and on what is happening in their territory. For example, one (or one pack) might wait for a particular dog to go in before crossing near than yard.

Until they don't.... because something changed their normal pattern like maybe that dog moved away or a new food source became available that changed their route or their timing.
