Winter prep - adding chickens to increase warmth?

x2! Your coop is too dark and underventilated. Add hardware cloth covered windows on all sides; you can cover the openings on the north and west sides in cold weather. I use two layers of vinyl sheeting, and it works well.
Also, is that 1" diameter netting on the run walls? Your run isn't safe enough, especially at night.
How will you manage snow load in winter? Are you going out ever day to shovel the run and take care of that flat unsupported roof?
The run will work when roofed, and then rolled vinyl walls added in winter.

Yup! I'd do that now...see how they react.
Coop is also rather dark and maybe not well ventilated enough.

Done! I dropped the perches from five to two feet and did a run to Home Dépot to research what I could add for light and ventilation. With any luck, coop expansion starts next weekend. Thanks for your feedback.
