Wondercide for pests

Hello! The ticks have been really awful this year (I've had more ticks EMBEDDED in my in a week than I have had for the previous 4 years put together!!) and I need to do something. We have indoor/outdoor cats for rat patrol, so I'm avoiding permethrin. I found this product on Amazon that is safe for pets but I want to see if anyone has used it with chickens and ducks and found it safe for them.

It contains cedar oil which I actually use on our epileptic dog as flea/tick control (the commercial flea/tick treatments result in seizures), but never around or near chickens. The chickens would likely have some access to the areas we are spraying. We won't be directly spraying the chickens or their coops, as we already treated their coops with permethrin spray (the cats don't go in the coops), but it will be on lawn where they eat bugs and grass and scratch at the dirt.

Or, if anyone knows of another alternative tick repellent/killer that's safe for dogs, cats, backyard poultry, and the general environment (we live near lots of wildlife), please let me know.

Yeah apparently ticks have been really bad this year and it's just going to get worse and worse. unfortunately ticks have been around for over a hundred million years they are pretty much indestructible !! unfortunately I doubt any essential oil will work is there a reason why you don't want to use permethrin? U know its nontoxic.

Although it's synthetic, act like natural extracts from the chrysanthemum flower.

The unfortunate part permethrin is not even strong enough these days. Plus to truly kill a tick you need to have repellent that kills in now and then repellent that kills the larvae.

In reality what we need to be doing is contacting or local State Assembly, Senators because it's only going to continue to get worse. In New Jersey where I live one day I got 6 off my dog and three off me... Its no joke these days!!

@Duckstail - the reason I don't want to use permethrin is because it is a neorotoxin to cats that can be fatal to them, and since ours are indoor/outdoor, I'm staying far from spraying that product across our yard.

I'll check out that website and look around.

I'm about ready to douse it in gasoline and burn it down just to get rid of them. I can SEE them crawling around. Oddly I haven't gotten many ticks from my cats or dog - all of them are from ME! My blood must be very tasty.

These little monsters are hard to get rid of...

Oh you were looking for your pets I thought you just wanted to spray your grass. My fault.

In that case you got to go with the Advantix! Although i still dont think it works that great!!

I just do multiple tick checks on my dog a day because it does take a good 24 to 36 hours of the tick being attached while they're in adult before anything is transmittable...

Essential oils might actually work if you look to drop them on your pets back!!!

You have to be careful of essential oils with cats too. Some can be fatal, so if the cats are anywhere near whatever is being treated, I would not use essential oils.

I've read that Cedar Chips should not be used for chickens (aroma vs sensitive respiratory system). I've considered cedar chips around my enclosure but haven't due to what I've read. You may call the company to find out or as someone at the feed store about cedar oils.

It would be wonderful if the ticks were repelled by cedar, but I doubt it. Nasty little critters that they are, probably they won't care.
Chickens, and especially guineas, eat ticks. Consider that as a good non-toxic control plan instead.

Actually cedar does repel fleas and ticks for dogs. I use it in mine and my oldest dog is 14, I have saw one tick dead on my kitchen floor.

Can chickens have garlic? Garlic is also a good way to keep fleas and ticks away from dogs, not sure if it does the same for chickens.
