Hi
I wanted to show pictures of one of my chickens. Her name is Diedre. Her mum is a bantam with a bit of silkie I think and her dad was a bantam as well.

She is absolutely tiny compared to them.
She also has an extra toe on each foot!

She's lovely. Looks very sweet, too.

Is it just the pic angle, or does she lack the outermost toe's claw? Or is it just very tiny? One of my banty females has a miniature and upturned claw on each outer toe. She's an inbreed we were given.

I hate to offer anything negative, but when I have a silkie mix or any chicken really who has a pale face and undeveloped wattles/crest when it has adult feathering, I mark it down as a potential leucosis sufferer/carrier. This may not be the case with yours at all, but I've had to weed (cull) it out of my flock after getting those genes from a purebred breeder, so I'm hyper-suspicious. If she starts wasting or produces offspring that either don't make it to a year, or don't make it much further than a year, that may well be the cause. But I hope she doesn't. If all your poultry have pale faces then it's most likely dietary rather than anything severe.

Best wishes.

Oh no hope she hasn't got leucosis. She never really grew which was strange. Some of my chickens have pale faces some don't! I'm scared. I will get a supplement for them.

Quote: I hope she doesn't either, and it's not too likely. There are a lot of causes of the symptoms I mentioned. A supplement should help a lot. All the best.
