Okay, so I'm not sure, where else to post this. I treated two of my eight girls about a month ago for what? I'm confident with sauerkraut. Liquidy crops and they would just vomit. I brought them inside for 48 hours and did the protocol including monistat for 7 days. Mom about four days into this, the one who wasn't as bad seemed to relapse. So I repeated the treatment and we and finished out the full 7 days. Fast forward everybody is acting normal. No more sauerkraut issues. But I have noticed what looks like puddles of egg yolk saturated pine shavings in their Coop. I know it isn't eggs because I have gone out in the dark right before dawn and found these spots with no evidence of eggs and it being too early to lay. I'm confident some of them are having watery poop. Of course there's also still some green solid in that liquidy patch. What I don't know is if this is a worm issue or if this is a different issue. At this point I don't even know whose poop, it's whose. I have not found anything moving and any poop anywhere. Acting normally. Otherwise. I have ordered pro and prebiotics to begin giving to them. Is this something you would prophylactically treat for worms and if so what would you use?

I believe when you're saying sourkraut, you mean sour crop?

In eight years I've never treated my chickens for worms because I've never seen anything telling me they may have worms. Probably half of us say similar, the other half treat proactively, so it's a matter of choice.

I'm a big proponent of pre and probiotics and ferment grains they get about once a week, more in the winter.

If you want to proactively treat them for worms, most I've seen use Safeguard, but there's also Valbazen. Here's an article on the latter.

If you have crop issues again, here are two excellent articles by expert BYC members about the different issues with crops and how to treat them:

That is hysterical. I used talk to text and it gave me sauerkraut- I'm dying 🤣🤣 I'm sure it's rife with errors. Anyway, thank you for the advice. I wasn't sure if the poops of the afflicted girls would be off after the SOUR CROP treatment, or if it's worms/ coccidiosis. I have ordered probiotics bc I'm hesitant to treat the girls if they don't need it since it's hard on them. They all seem happy and healthy other than this mysterious poo.
