We used to have a golden laced Wyandotte who laid normal/large size eggs. She was killed sadly. We just recently added two golden laced wyandottes to our mixed flock. They are about 18 months old. They started laying for us immediately but their eggs seem very small. I weighed them and they are 49 and 51 grams each, placing them barely out of the 'small egg' category. I researched more and everything I'm finding says wyandottes lay large eggs. They are similar in size to my bantam eggs more than my EE and australorp eggs which hover in the high 50s low 60s for grams.

Is it normal to have so much variation in egg size among the same breed?

We have a Black Laced Wyandotte Bantam and her eggs are tiny compared to the other hens which are Rangers and Black Star that's why I asked. They are hybrid breeds and lay a lot of eggs, the egg size varies but tend to be on the large rather than small size.

I find my two gold lace Wyandot eggs are smaller in hot weather right now weighing 55 grams.
