I took in 2 pekin ducklings back in May that my daughter’s co-worker had rescued. We planned to raise them until they could live outside but were never able to find a place for them where they would have a better life than they do with us. We named them Chandler and Joey since we didn't know their gender at the time. Joey is the female and we sometimes refer to her as JoJo.
The male has always been a bit more yellow than the female but lately it's much more noticeable. Should I be concerned? They are on Mazuri waterfowl layer feed, get fresh berries and spinach mid-day, and frozen peas and corn in the evening. I've read that the corn in their diet could contribute to the color of the feathers but the female eats much more than the male so I'm not sure if that's the case. Is it anything to be concerned about? He acts completely normal. He's just a beautiful yellow color.
I've attached pictures of them together in the sun and in their pen for reference.
Thanks in advance!
