YO GEORGIANS! :)

Good morning, everyone! My name is Ace, and I moved to a 5 acre property in Douglasville (metro Atlanta) a year ago. I’m planning to convert my shed into a chicken coop and am hoping to incubate a dozen or so eggs in September or so. Does anyone know the best way to get fertilized eggs around here? Thanks so much! Excited to join the Georgia BYC community!!!

Georgia is the chicken capital. You can get just about any kind of chicken here.
The last place that I bought chickens from is The Pasture Farms - Northwest of Atl.
Craigslist always has people trying to sell chickens.
So does Facebook groups but you have to use private messages (PMs) to discuss a transaction.
Farm stores / feed and seed places usually sell baby chicks at certain times of the year.

I advise against using the metro Atlanta USPS to order them. They do a TERRIBLE job with the mail. You should drive to meet someone for a pickup.
Here another group of breeders from a Google search -

Just wanted to say hi to all my fellow Georgians! A bit overdue, honestly. I'm in Augusta/Hephzibah and have had chickens since I got my first 6 from TSC in June 2022. My others all came from Barnhart's Feed & Seed. I currently have 19 chickens of various breeds. I'm hoping to try my hand at hatching eggs in the future!

Nice to meet you all!

Thank you so much! This is super helpful! I'll look into Pasture Farms and these other recommendations. :)

Also, if anyone on here has fertilized Speckled Sussex, Silver Laced Wyandottes, Polish, White Leghorn, or Black Copper Marans eggs, please reach out! I'm hoping to set some eggs starting early September.

Hi! Wanted to say hi to my fellow Georgians! I’m in Southeast Georgia near Statesboro. We started out with a few Easter egger yard chickens but now have sebrights, bantam Cochins, Brahma, polish, turkeys, turken chickens, ameraucana, silkies, bobwhite quail, and ring neck pheasants. Looking to add other types of pheasants to our homestead!
