young ducks with older ducks?

How big are the younger ones compared to the older ones?
There will be some scuffles, and such, but they work it out, Its their pecking order.

I have a 2 year old male duck and 5 8 week old ducklings. My question is how well will the older duck protect the other from the outdoors
