Your 2025 Garden

Yesterday the weather was nice so I worked in the garden. I finished cleaning out some old netting, moved some compost and mulch. Then I planted green peas. I will have to put up a new barrier to keep out the rabbits and deer.

Got up to 60°F in the sunshine yesterday. A storm blew in and dropped the temp and 1" of snow.

-4°F this morning.

I arch my cattle panels and grow butternut squash, cucumbers etc on them. It works wonders and by midsummer you have a shady tunnel underneath.. I also have this on the way to my chicken coop which then provides some shade for my girls as well.

Did you make the arch from a full 16' long panel?

I need to till and get some seed in the ground by Saturday. Carrots and beets for sure.

I can plant carrots and peas here, now. Planting guide says beets and chard go in on March first.

Years ago we had a big garden. I had surgery, life got busy, and saplings grew. I had the trees cut, then covered the area with carpet for a couple years to smother any regrowth.

Today Frank brought his Bobcat, and I got my garden back.

I am going to plant blueberry bushes and elderberry shrubs.
