Your 2025 Garden

I haven't grown any brassica since moving to hot dry flat brown central Oklahoma 20-some years ago. We don't get any frost to kiss it into sweetness until WAY late in the year.
I grow most brassicas in the fall for the same reason. Bugs are less a problem in fall too.

I do grow a few cabbage in spring but only Early Jersy Wakefield. It is a pointed head cabbage that matures a bit faster than the round types. I grow it again in fall.
Up in NY the saying it's "knee high by the 4th of July." Central Okieland you're already picking and eating it by then.
Same. It is picked and served by 4th of July.

The pollen is flying here. It has covered everything. I dare not open a window. Thankfully rain is on the way.

I planted some Red Norland potatoes yesterday. The early peas are growing. I saw a few strawberry blooms. The wild Dogwoods and my Red Bud are blooming. Happy to see these signs.

Moved the last batch of tomatoes to the greenhouse. They will go outside after tomorrow's storm passes.

I think every marigold seed germinated. I have around 50.
Some will be shared with a friend.

Dolgo Crabapple today. My son says it smells heavenly. I'm hoping the pollinators agree.

Today at the brother's land in NYS . If I were a grizzly bear, this would be a good winter napping spot.
I put out beets, peas, and taters for brother this morning. Will be picking up onion sets later when we go into town to pick up his post-surgery meds at the VA. I brought him a few bell pepper starts from Okla packed carefully in my suitcase.
He didn't want any tomatoes saying he'd saved seeds from the bread and salt and Korean long he grew last year which he preferred. So I started those this morning in his greenhouse. It seems rather late to start them to me but his last frost isn't until late May or early June.

I enjoyed having iris until two years ago when the first pair of chickens wandered onto my property and into my life. The roots are still there and get blades each year but apparently the flowers are quite tasty. Some were quite striking color-wise but my favorites were the little purple ones. They smelled like grapes. It made me smile.
Your froggies are adorable. Is you homestead named Lily Pad Lane?
