Mine is
fog in the hollow, "fine day to follow"

fog on the hill, "water to the mill"

i realize not everyday there is fog, but If you look hard, you will see more in one spot then the other..

Either on your own little creek where you may walk your dog.. or on the way to work in the valleys and hills of the highway..

What's yours?

Fish bite best before it rains. It's a wive's tale, but has been proven truthful.

Quote:
When the wind is in the west, the fishes bite the best
when the wind is in the east, the fishes bite the least
when the wind is in the north, the fishes do come forth
when the wind is in the south, it blows the bait in the fishes' mouth...

I didn't just make this up....really....

A ring around the moon means rain or snow soon.

A sundog means change of weather (most likely a storm). [A sundog is a vertical rainbow]

When leaves show their undersides, be very sure that rain betides

When the sun shines while raining,
it will rain the same time again tomorrow.

When the wind is in the east, 'tis neither good for man nor beast

I dont know if this is exactly a wives tell but i have heard some wives say it. Where we live if you hear the train east of here, falling weather. If you hear the train west of here, good weather. For the record, when it rains you can hear the train east and only on those yucky days. On pretty sunny days I hear the train west and also the fire depts siren.
