    Frostbite on comb - what to do

    My roo got the tips of his comb frostbitten; I left him alone until they were starting to bleed. Brought him in, carefully washed the comb, dried it and added styptic powder. Seems fine

    I use sand in my coop and have added used coffee grounds from the local Starbucks. My younger birds and regular chickens don’t seem to mind or care. I haven’t seen any odd behaviors or issues. So works for me!

    I have a Hentronix door. Love it! Girls are nice and secure…once you get the hang of programming it, it’s great.

    I love my Appenzeller Spitzhauben…he has really turned into a great bird. Gentle with the girls, curious, always on alert, and people friendly.

    I use sand in the coop…easy to keep clean, dries out the poop…little if any smell.
