    Brand New

Here's one of the newest members to my flock. As you can clearly see from the pic it has a hurt foot. Right now I have it in the small cat carrier in the house on the kitchen table. I'm giving it homemade electrolyte solution. What I would like to know is how to treat the foot?

What kind of cross am I?

Hi, my name is BOO. The female human I belong to was told that I'm an Easter egger when I was given to her. Here I am with my buddy, Roo, who is a Buff Orpington rooster. He and I are the same age. He's attempting to crow just as I'm beginning to start laying. Here's the human holding up the...

    Veggies

I like and will eat the following veggies, sometimes raw: (sweet corn [ butter and sugar corn on the cob], spinach, sweet peppers, sweet potatoes, potatoes, cucumbers, carrots, etc). The veggies I REALLY dislike are Lima beans and orka. I will eat peas but only if they are in Macaroni Salad.

    Deafness

I'm not sure where I should be posting this so if another member can move it to the rightful place it will be much appreciated and welcomed. I've seen posts on chickens being blind. I think my BO rooster, Roo, is deaf. He's right around 19 weeks ( I think). I heard him attempt to crow a...

    Need Advice QUICK!!!!!

Last year we put red plastic key ring type bands around the older hens so we would be able to tell them apart from the young ones. Last night I had no choice but to unband one seeing how I had noticed that she really wasn't walking or running like she used to; as I started to remove the band...

    What will happen?

I think I have an EE rooster but not quite sure yet but if I do I have RIR and BO hens so what would a chick look like if the EE mated with a BO hen or a RIR. Would the same thing happen if my EE was a hen seeing how I have a BO rooster and a RIR rooster also.

    What name?

I was given 2 roosters last Sunday. I have named the BO rooster Roo-Roo. I am just having a difficult time coming up with a name for the EE. Not quite sure if it's a hen or a rooster so the name would have to fit both male and female. I'm thinking along the line of a magician- can't be Houdini...

    Eggs

I had a person ask me what's the difference between white and brown eggs plus to prove that brown eggs are healthier than white eggs. I personally think brown eggs are richer tasting than white eggs. Can anyone else help me provide the answer?

    So Easy-NOT

There's been a lot of people I've talked to that say I have it easy here because there isn't any actual hard work going on. HELLO, people! I do have to say this, ' yes, we are a small farm just starting out so we only have chickens and steers at this moment. I have a family member who stays with...

    What's wrong with her?

As you can see I have one hen whose comb isn't as red as the others nor does it stand up She also has a lot of poop around her vent. Other than those issues she seems to be just fine- eats and drinks plus forages the ground for "treats". I've never been around chickens before ( just began in...
