I've quick cooked radish before (like throwing it on top of soup towards end of the cooking time). It neutralizes the bite if you don't like the peppery kick very much. It softens up pretty quickly, with a texture like cooked carrot.

Their tomato section was pretty bare last time I looked - lots of nice photos and lots of "out of stock." :( I did get carrots without issue at least.

Order quick while there's still some inventory!

This is why I want to get goats. About half my property is blackberry bramble, it keeps me busy all spring and summer constantly cutting it back!

I take a stick and mark off planting sections (usually 1'-2' increments) and the lines stay visible for a month or two, so that helps my spread out seeding a bit better. Otherwise I was overcrowding beds which increased pest density and led to some stunted plants. Yeah, watering in summer is...

Sounds good! I want to try asparagus for the first time this upcoming spring as well, though I need to clear out and amend the bed it's going in. I have most of my seeds for next year ordered already. Going to revise my plans from last year (I made a spreadsheet to organize what goes where...

Last year I sprouted spinach from seed without issue in summer (it's supposed to like cold weather, go figure) and since I ate it quick bolting wasn't a huge issue. But for spring, I got just 1 - and it grew massive, like 2' tall lol. Weirdest spinach plant I've ever seen but even the giant...

Eh, I'll probably only do one shishito this year so a started plant will be fine at this point. Can't get spinach to sprout either. *shakes fist* That's what I get for switching varieties.

Ahhhhh lucky. I guess I should order more shishito seeds next year and hope that batch will grow for me. :tongue Wow that is SO nice!! Super jealous.

Good luck on the shishitos! They're one of my favorite peppers, so tasty with a quick pan fry and just a bit of salt & pepper.

I might, depending on how well the seeds take. Going to have to buy shishito pepper starts again anyhow this year, for 2nd year in a row couldn't get any to start from seed. :b

Yeah thankfully it's not like peppers or eggplant that tend to go sloooow. But still, does mean it'll be a while before I can harvest it. I could just speed it up by buying started plants but seems like a waste when I have seed to spare.

Argh - I have been putting out tomatoes and basil (plus a few other things) to harden so I can plant them at the start of next month. Hubby's been good about taking the tomatoes into the greenhouse at night, but I forgot to tell him to get the basil too. Sure enough I forgot about it and left...

I'm in zone 8b. Was just warm enough today to bathe the dogs. :) My tomatoes come out each day to soak up the sun, then get put in the greenhouse overnight to protect from the chill. I'll be doing the same with the other starts that I'm working on hardening. I generally plant tomatoes and...

I did 6 tomatoes last year and it was wayyy too much (I'm only interested in eating fresh, not canning). So I decided to only do 3 this year, which also coincides with the number of good tomato cages I have. :) Pretty busy morning clearing roots out of a raised bed, then amending it. Seeded...

Oh yes, I love the smell of tomato plants in general, like after thinning them out I'll sniff my gloves haha.

Same here. Veggies are just more "useful" and I have a harder time getting flowers to grow from seed compared to veggies. When I do grow flowers I mostly pick specific plants I like, rather than what actually might look nice together. So it tends to get a bit hodgepodge as my eye goes to...

Yes, very pretty! I also like the look of bugleweed but it definitely can spread around here. There's a patch of it in my second lawn that I've left alone as the area is too wet for grass, so it's bugleweed and some semi aquatic plants.

If it's growing somewhere you don't want it, it's essentially a weed anyhow. I think my most prolific self seeders are the alpine strawberries. Started with 3 plants and now they've shown up in vegetable beds, in gravel under potted plants, under trees - between wild birds, the chickens and...

Same, my bachelors buttons would kind of sprout and then just disappear. Might just not be the right plant for me. I have a pretty ugly mounded flower bed that has various bushes and a magnolia tree, so can't get rid of it, but it tends to turn into a weed patch so if I could get stuff to just...
