The AMERAUCANA thread

Pics
I just email the place I ordered it from. This order has been difficult from the beginning. Replacement order resulted in two DOA and the little EE you see in with the Fav and AM was the only one to survive. Then they refunded the order. Awesome, but left me fed up with 6-week-old, and I ordered day old chicks. I ordered way over the limit for my ordinance to safely get them here. No blue eggs for me.
That is really a big bummer! Are you near Culdesac or Rathdrum? It looks like there are two registered Ameraucana breeders in those two towns. Or maybe hatching eggs under a broody? That's how I guaranteed I got girls this time, I paid for 6 week grow outs that were for sure pullets from a registered breeder. The boys are too easy to get attached to, they are just such wonderful birds!

I used to own a pure black Ameraucana. She was the sweetest thing, and laid a gorgeous blue egg.
Unfortunately, a predator got to her... she was one of my original 5 chickens.

We missed the blue eggs, so we crossed some EE's and Cochins and got EE X Cochins that lay blue/green eggs. (some of them)
She sounded so wonderful. I'm sorry for your loss. :hugs

I actually initially wanted a blue Ameraucana when ordering a BBS one, but after seeing even more of Zoe’s splash coloring coming in I'm glad I received a splash one! Just this past week she’s gotten a lot more of these pretty dark splashes of color. (She has very filthy watermelon muffs). Very excited to see my first blue egg from her. All of my adult hens right now lay cream eggs, so I have never had a blue egg before!

I saw these two as well. Both are in northern Idaho. I'm in the southern part. 45 min from Nevada border. I will definitely keep them in mind. It's a beautiful drive.
