Hello everyone, I’m guessing I don’t have any pure Americanas, since I just bought the Americana/Easter egger chicks from the local feed store, and I’ve heard they are almost always Easter eggers, but I just wanted to know what makes Americanas…. Americanas! How are Easter eggers different, and how can I tell? What are their specific unique traits that will help me differentiate? The ones I got are still tiny chicks so idek if it’s possible to tell now, just curious since I’ve been in love with the breed forever. I just love how they look and their big eyes and cheek puffs and their colorful eggs!

Hi here are the 2 Ameraucana clubs they explain the difference between EE and Ameraucana well. It comes down to EE are a not a standard breed they are a mix of breeds that carry the blue egg gene. Ameraucana are a breed that have varieties and confirmation to the APA / ABA standard and will breed true. I hope this helps.

Well this is a very weird coincidence…. Zoe ended up laying her first egg today. So weird that she laid her egg the day I posted about her

I just wanted to say that since Zoe’s first egg she’s been laying consistently every other day!! People who purchase my eggs are loving her blue eggs! Can’t wait for my 2 new Ameraucana girls!

A white Amerucana is on my want list (pretty much all of the colors). Getting a lavender this spring!

They're Self Blue actually. I bought Self Blue Ameraucana hatching eggs from a breeder and they snuck in a White egg. The White girl is the friendliest one of all of them.

Self-Bule is lavender. And most club members did not like the APA standards referring to the color as self-blue because they all called it lavender like all other breeds of chickens do.

Thank you ^_^ I got lucky and started with some very nice birds. I hope I can keep the good type going down the line. I'm working hard to familiarize myself with the SOP and be critical of what birds I keep for breeding
