My girls have been laying for about two weeks now. Every egg seems to have little brown or gray things inside the egg white portion of the egg. Is this normal? Also, I know some toads are poisonous when eaten. My RIR ate a small small toad the other day and it hasn't died yet. So the next couple eggs should be fine, right?

What you describe as a contaminant sounds like meat spots to me. They are perfectly harmless. You are probably seeing them because your hens are new layers, but some hens are more prone to them than others. Here's some more info. on blood and/or meat spots:

My chickens eat toads, frogs, skinks, etc. whenever they can catch one. Haven't been poisoned yet.

Great post Gritsar! I actually JUST cracked an egg and it had 4 small blood clots in it. I just got on to see how common it was! Thanks for reading my mind!
