All but the head! This phase is the funniest to me, their heads look so tiny 😆 It’s a really sweet quail, totally happy just sitting with me 😍 Gonna look a lot like it’s Daddy!
Well the first round of quail made it thru with 15 hatching out of 21! :-) Mostly rosettas and tuxedos, but I got at least one silver and one Italian. The silver is my favorite, so snuggly!
Second round is already internally pipping, and yelling loud enough I was looking around for chicks...
I was asked to be a quail vendor at this Family Farm Expo next weekend so I have about 40 eggs incubating and due to hatch on May 2!
I plan to keep a few…I’ve had some rat issues (quailocide) and dumb quail issues (knocked lid off their waterer and drowned) this past month and I’m down to 11...
My hatch is complete! 😍 8 eggs, 5 babies! Not too bad. The last one got a bit stuck and has a wonky foot! It is NOT a fan of the boot 😆 it’s my favorite one too, such a pretty reddish color 😍
First quail baby of 2022!! Three are out now and two are deciding if they want to join us or not :-) I forgot how tiny they are! I’ve been hatching chickens so much they look strangely tiny 😍
Well I will find out how resilient quail eggs are at Day 10…I vacuumed my bedroom tonight and didn’t realize until 2 hours later that I’d accidentally unplugged the incubator 😩 The temp was down to 81F…I also have 18 chicken eggs in the same incubator and I candles them about 20 mins ago and...
I popped 8 quail eggs in the incubator about 12 days ago. It’s amazing (for me anyway) I’ve been making money from my quail this year :-) I found someone that bought 9 of my babies that hatched in late August of last year. They ended up getting 6 hens and 3 roosters and bought 2 dozen hatching...
Okay question, do we still think this is a Pearl fee male? After they molted, he got even more creamy white and almost no color on his body feathers! Is this just a really white version? Can Manchurians be super creamy white? Just curious, since I haven’t seen the males this devoid of other...
I have these too! So many uses! Mainly use them to strain out wet and poopy pine shavings from the brooder waterers so the shavings don’t clog up the sinks or toilet when I change out water! 😆
I have a male that’s a bit more aggressive than I’d like too, and he’s also a full celadon and I LOVE his markings…so I’m hoping he keeps the aggression to a minimum. So far he’s territorial and a butthead but nothing excessively damaging. The others seem to respect him and stay out of his way...
