Color Genetics of Barnevelders

I am still working on my Barnevelder flock. I currently only have one rooster, the standard fowl gold double laced. Unfortunately, my double silver laced rooster died, and I am looking for a replacement. I have two questions:

1. What will the progeny of a gold rooster crossed on silver hens look like? Can a gold rooster produce silvers, and is that ever a good idea to get silvers that way?

2. I need to concentrate on one color. The silvers are in high demand here, and I prefer them aesthetically. I love the golds; they are the accepted color for APA, which is a draw for me. What would you do?

I wouldn’t recommend crossing the colors because silvers tend to get autosomal red if they have gold parentage.
