We built this brooder box mainly for poults, (7’x4’) but will definitely be using it for chicks, keets and sometimes ducklings if hatch times work out. We used 3 pcs of plywood, 8 2x4x8, and 3 1x4x8 and hardware mesh. It’s under cover so none of it is treated wood but we might stain the outside this when hatching is over.
We built the frame to the plywood but most importantly when measuring REMEMBER the width of the plywood
Even with all the lumber purchased we have a 4’x4’ square left of the plywood to cover this top for chicks or whatever else needed.
