More details on why these items work are needed. Maybe add some links to studies, too.

I decline to do so. Most of the posts (not just mine) on BYC are based on personal knowledge and experience.

It's not that I expect someone to just take my word, I believe you should do your own research. If you're on this page, you have access to a computer and Google.

You should never blindly follow medical advise found online and links can be biased, especially when it comes to poultry, considering almost every treatment is 'off label'.

With that being said, try poultrydmv.com it is a very comprehensive site.
Interesting article.

At least in humans, I believe we do too much of this. We treat the symptoms, but not the cause. For example, if someone has a peritonsillar abscess, resulting in a sore throat, fever, etc, you can give them advil for the fever, and cough drops for the sore throat, but it won’t do anything to treat the abscess (speaking from personal experience. Once you get the abscess drained, it’s instant relief. After the pain from procedure wears off, that is)
pretty interesting article! definitely something I will look into in the future
Antibiotics work...for some diseases.
Milk thistle will not.

Please reread the article. It says milk thistle will treat symptoms.
the article does not give dosage, sourcing for medicines or links to articles supporting the use of the meds.

They are not meds, they are supplements and groceries found at Walmart. I didn't address any particular illnesses or chooks, dosage is relative.

As for links, no. I did state I've learned remedies over the years. I'm the source. Feel free to spend your time searching for links in obscure A&M white papers if you need to. But just about everything we use to treat chickens is off label.
