We have an auto door so it opens up before the big ones get off roost. I’m worried about being in the run together though. I think I’m going to keep the door open tonight that separates the run and see how they interact in the run together.
I have 7- 8 week olds that I am in the middle of trying to integrate with my 5- 1 year old hens. They have been free ranging all together for a week now, everything seems ok. There is some pecking, my barred rock is the worst which totally surprised me. But all in all they seem to co exist other...
I really didn't expect them to love it as much as they do. We cleared that spot last summer and I had intended to do a flower garden...silly me. I quickly realized that would never work with these ladies of mine. I plan to cover the area with mulch to try to steer them away from my landscaping...
Did you say you heard him crow? I have 3 new EE this year, supposedly all sexed female. 2 are conformed cockerels based on size, color, and comb. I am eagerly waiting to figure out the third, she is much smaller than the 2 cockerels but her comb is pretty pink...but not as red as the cockerels...

this morning we found a “fairy egg” on the poop board. Figured Ms. Ruby (barred rock) laid it overnight. She hasn’t laid an egg yesterday. I went out tonight and just found this speckled egg!! Both very thin shells. Seems...
