Ok thanks. She hasn't layed for about a month now, hopefully she is done. If I can recall correctly, her last egg came out crushed to pieces. Not sure if that had anything to do with it.

Do you think my hen has a chance of making it? It was Sunday when she passed the lash egg, and she's been acting normal since Monday, and hasn't had the penguin stance any more. Is there a chance she will survive? It makes sense, she is a production breed, and always layed very large eggs, so...

She just pooped up something really weird. It was kinda fatty and long. She tried to eat it afterwards, I took it away from her beak. I hope it want her insides but I'm thinking that's what it might be. She is still alive though, maybe she'll recover.

Also, her crop is slightly squishy, not hard, and my best guess is that it's mostly empty. Could she possibly have sour crop??

I don't think that Orpington too is purebred. He seems to have some barring on the neck and hackle area. Maybe he has some Barred Rock genes?

I love these answers! I can definitely agree with you on Barred Rocks being dominant, and good at survival.

Plymouth Barred Rocks. They lay lots of eggs, are very friendly, and beautiful too!

I like wooden boxes. I line mine with straw and put curtains up to give the hens privacy.
