OMG!! 4 Anacona ducklings here too, 4 turkens, a sultan, various cochins, LOTS I still need to identify. I have a few of these guys. Look like brahmas but no feathers on the legs. What do you think they are? Blue easter egger maybe? Some have a red forehead like this one, some white like the...

Cackle hatchery's Hatchery Surprise- Anybody got this before?

Waiting for mine to get here tomorrow also!! Super exciting. For those of you that knew how much the box weighed at shipping, where did you find this information. I can't find it anywhere and was hoping for a heavy box :D

    Frizzle thread

This may have been covered in this thread but with satellite internet 98 pages of pictures can be painful. How early can you tell if a chick is going to be a frizzle? I have barnyard mix eggs I am going to hatch out and out of 65 or so birds there is ONE frizzle rooster. Wondering how soon...

Cackle hatchery's Hatchery Surprise- Anybody got this before?

Just ordered a surprise box. So excited...and here I thought the free rare chick from McMurray was exciting!! Hoping for at least a couple ducks but really just excited to add more chicks to my free-range flock now that I've penned up my purebreds for breeding. Hoping they will ship soon but...

    Broody Hen Thread!

Do you worry about them switching eggs with your layout or does each hen have her own area?

    Broody Hen Thread!

I isolated my broodies in a separate pen for the same reason you guys mentioned. All the other hens would lay in the clutch and she had more eggs than she could sit on!

    Broody Hen Thread!

I had a broody hen and THOUGHT I caught her on the day she went broody. I slipped a couple extra eggs under her. She shouldn't have started hatching till tomorrow but last night there was definitely a chick. Now I'm wondering if I should move the rest of the eggs into the hatcher JIC. Her nest...

    Langshan vs Black Cochin

How would you tell the difference and at what age? I received 2 black feather footed chicks from McMurray Hatchery as part of a Rare Breed Special (pics tomorrow its too dark now). They are 2 months old and I'm still not sure what I have.

    2 EE's. Gender / Age / Color Pls

Thanks everybody for your opinions. I appreciate it very much :D I know time will tell for sure but at least I won't have a worried feeling about it as they are growing out :D

    2 EE's. Gender / Age / Color Pls

Thanks for all the feedback I appreciate it. With the first two chicks I am just hoping I guessed right..Otherwise I paid $15 for two roosters :D. I went to a local hatchery with the intention of buying 5 or 6 pullets / chicks but once I got there...the facility was pretty well..unacceptable. I...

Color / Breed Confirmation for Lavender Splash Ameraucana Roo - Almost 6 months old.

He does have very light feet (I wouldn't call it white but maybe my standards are high :D) If you say his legs are gray/blue then the bottoms are very very light gray with a slight tinge of blue. I was thrilled to find him for a project because he's splash so I can get blue next generation...

    2 EE's. Gender / Age / Color Pls

So is black and white always male in an EE? I would have bet money this chick (i think 6 weeks in the photo) is a female. I have three what I call "silver easter eggers" in my grow out pen and I was sure (until now) all 3 are hens. This pic was taken around 3 weeks ago and there haven't been...
